ADHA MAY CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT OF ERSTWHILE SPEAKER, OTHERS AS CHAIR, MEMBERS OF HASCO TOMORROW

Adamawa State House of Assembly is to consider the report of its Joint Committee on Public Service and Electoral Matters and House Service on the screening of Chairman and Members of the House of Assembly Service Commission (HASCO) tomorrow.

The consideration of the report by house will determine whether the Legislators will okay the appointment of those nominated, as sought by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to head the Assembly Service Commission.

Governor Fintiri had in a letter forwarded to the hallowed chamber on Wednesday 7th August, 2019, asked the legislators to confirm the appointment of Rt. Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi (Former Speaker ADHA) as Chairman while Mr. Bello Pur, Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, Barr. Zainab Ngila Ahmed and Hon.Mohammed Shehu as Members of HASCO.

The letter which was read at the Wednesday plenary session by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, referred it the the Joint Committee Public Service and Electoral Matters and that of House Service headed by Hon. Adwawa Donglock (Guyuk) and Hon. Myandassa Bauna( Lamurde) respectively.

The Joint Committee which successfully completed its assignment, submitted its report at a resumed plenary session today by the Chairman House Committee on Public Service and Electoral Matters and Member Representing Guyuk Constituency, Hon. Adwawa Donglock.

Thereafter, the hallowed chamber which was presided by the Speaker, Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the Chairman Rules and Business of the House to schedule the report for consideration and possible adoption by the house tomorrow.

Earlier, while submitting the report, Hon. Donglock, told the house in their report that the appointment of the Chairman and members of the commission is in accordance with Law No. 5 of 2002, section 1, 2 and 3 of the commission.

According to him, the nominees are indigenes of Adamawa state and have obtained the required minimum educational qualifications to hold public offices, as enshrined in the1999 Constitution of the Federal of Nigeria as amended.

The report intimated the hallowed chamber that the 5 nominees are drawn from the 3 senatorial zones in conformity with Law No. 5 of the commission and therefore urged the Honourable members to consider and confirm the them.
