HASCO: ADAMAWA ASSEMBLY CONFIRMS THE APPOINTMENT OF EX- SPEAKER, OTHERS
Adamawa State House of Assembly has today confirmed the appointment of Former Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Wambai as Chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission(HASCO).
Others confirmed as members of the commission include; Mr. Bello Pur, Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, Barr. Zainab Ngila Ahmed and Hon. Mohammed Shehu.
The confirmation of the nominees by the hallowed chamber was sequel to the adoption of a report of the House Joint Committee on Public Service and Electoral Matters and House Services at a resumed plenary session yestarday.
The report was presented to the House by the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Public Service and Electoral Matters and Member representing Guyuk constituency, Hon Adwawa Donglock.
Earlier, Hon. Donglock, told his colleagues in the report that the appointment of the nominees to head the commission is in line with the law establishing the commission, saying that all the 5 nominees are indigenes of the state and have the requirement to the steer the affairs of the HASCO.
Hon. Donglock however prayed his colleagues to consider approving the nominees as sought by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in a letter sent to the members.
Recall that the Governor had in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, and read at the plenary session on 7th August, 2019, by the Speaker, requested the members to approve the nominees.
But the Members at a resumed plenary session today, unanimously confirmed the appointment as sought by the Governor.
The resolution of the Legislators followed the consideration and adoption of the report sponsored by motion to that effect by Hon. Adwawa Donglock( Guyuk) and seconded by Hon. Haruna Jelantikiri(Madagali).
After the confirmation, the Speaker Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the sitting, directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the members to the executive arm for necessary action.
