ADAMAWA GOVT COMMENCES IMPLEMENTATION OF BETTER EDUCATION SERVICE DELIVERY

In line with the present administration's policy on the education sector, the Adamawa State Government has commenced the implementation of Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA).

According to the government, the implementation of BESDA is in tandem with the educational policy of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration in the state.

The government has also declared open a Mini Summit on BESDA with the theme sustaining activities in Adamawa State beyond 2020, insisting that it will go along way in eradicating illiteracy and enhance access to quality education.

Speaking while flagging off BESDA at the Banquet Hall Government House Yola Saturday, Governor Fintiri said that the state has so far yielded positive result in the programme with emphasis on better implementation of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme.

Governor Fintiri added that the objectives of BESDA is in line with the educational policy of the present administration which is why barely two months of the administration in office, he directed the implementation of its activities prior to any support from BESDA.

According to him, the state government is implementing free education at both basic and post basic levels and it is accessible to all and has a deliberate plan to stop the generation of out of school children in the state, as well as clear the misprojected number of over 239, 000 out of school children in the state by 2020.

The Governor disclosed that a total of 51,205 girls and almajiris were enrolled from 12 Local Governments Areas and will be retained for 9 months before they are reintegrated and that incentives are already provided for parents and the children, assuring of more results in the near future.

In his remarks, National coordinator of BESDA Prof Gidado Tahir said the programme has come to stay in the country and that so far, it has started yielding positive results in the focal seventeen states of the country.
