ADAMAWA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY HOSTS NYSC PRESS CDS, PLEDGES SUPPORT
The Adamawa State House of Assembly has hosted National Youth Service Corps Press Community Development Service (CDS) with a promise to support them in the execution of projects.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas who hosted the students on courtesy visit Tuesday, pledged the readiness of the house towards supporting them during their service in the state most especially in the implementation of their community development projects.
He advised them to forward their plan of action to the Assembly for consideration and support so as to ensure its implementation, saying that the Assembly is pleased to welcome them to House.
He further tasked them to be good ambassadors during and after their service, informing them that the government of the day has taken the issue of insecurity seriously and striving hard towards addressing it.
He told them that Adamawa state is not like the way some people have been portraying it, adding that the citizens of the state are peace loving, and they live in peace with their neighbours as well as their visitors.
Also speaking, the Member representing Demsa constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno called on them to carry out advocacy programmes on the community development service.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the NYSC Press CDS, Kelchang Changko appreciated the peaceful nature of Adamawa, saying that what they have seen is contrary to stories they heard about the state before their posting.
He said that what they saw has completely changed their perception about the security situation of the state, commending the present administration for doing everything possible to checkmate crime.
He further pleaded with the house to support them in the implementation of some of the projects so as to leave a legacy after completing their service in the state.
In a related development, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas has enjoined students of the Suleiman Ribadu College, Yola to work hard so to excel in their educational pursuit.
Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas commended them for being the first school that appreciated the house after their excursion in the house, and wished them well in their future endeavour.
Earlier, speaking while leading the students, Mr. Alex thanked the Assembly for the opportunity accorded to come and see things for themselves, saying that they decided to come to house to see legislature in action.
He told the Speaker and other Honourable Members that they only taught the students the theory, hence their resolve to come and witness the proceedings of the house.
