YOLA: COURT SENDS 26 YEAR OLD DRUG ADDICT TO 3 MONTHS IN PRISON


A Yola Upper Area Court III in Adamawa State has sentenced a 26 year old, Abubakar Hamidu to 3 months in prison custody for the offence of having in possession of hard drugs.

The court convicted the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the offence when the First Information Report was read and explained to him.

Abubakar was arrested at Kofar Bayi in Yola South Local Government Area on the 13th January, 2020, in possession of of illicit drugs: 42 wrappers of indian hemp, 6O pieces of diazepam and 25 pieces of exol contrary to section 153 of Penal Code Law of Adamawa State.

While delivering its judgment, the court presided by Honourable Umar Isa said that the court was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that the suspect was guilty to the offence and therefore sentenced him for 3 months imprisonment. .

Honourable Isa declared that the court had taken note of the plea for leniency by the suspect and sentenced him for 3 months with option of fine of #10,000.
