ADHA GIVES RECORD OF PERFORMANCE, ENACTS 4 BILLS, 23 RESOLUTIONS IN 6 MONTHS

The 7th Adamawa State House of Assembly presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas has given the record of its performance in the last 6 months.

The Speaker of the Assembly who gave the record of performance while presiding over a resumed plenary session Monday, said that the house had passed 4 bills and 23 resolutions for good governance in the state.

According to him, 2 out of the 4 bills enacted by the Honourable House have already been assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, but could not say whether the resolutions passed were implemented or not.

However, the Speaker who welcomed his colleagues from over one month recess, urged them to be up and doing in their legislative business for the progress of the state.

NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the hallowed chamber of 25 Members which was inaugurated in June, 2019, sponsored no fewer than 9 different bills: 3 by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas, 1 by the esrtwhile Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa (Yola South), 2 by the Majority Leader, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri(Jada Mbulo), 1 by Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada( Michika), 1 by Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa) and 1 by Hon. Umar Nashion Gubi (Nasarawo Binyeri.

The bills assented to by the Governor include; a Bill for a Law to Amend Adamawa State Local Government Establishment and Administration Law number 4. of 2000, a Bill for Law to provide for the Management of funds of State House of Assembly, a Bill for a Law to Amend State Health Insurance Scheme Law number 7 of 2011 to provide free basic health care services to unemployed, persons under the age of 20 years, pregnant women, disabled and indigents persons, persons above the age of 65 and children below 5 years and a Bill for a Law to further issue and appropriate the sum of #183.3billion.

While 4 bills are currently undergoing legislative amendment under the House Committees of Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development and Education headed by Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki(Yola North), Isa Yahaya (Maiha) and Hon. Bathiya Wesley(Hong) respectively.

The bills include; a Bill for a Law to regulate the minimum standards for health care facilities, a Bill for a Law to provide for the Establishment and Functions of Adamawa State Agency for Humanitarian and Developmental Affairs, a Bill for a Law to Regulate the Practice of the Estate Agency in the State and a Bill for a Law to Amend Teachers' Retirement Years Law number 17 of 2018, so as to Restrict the Application of its Provisions to Science and English Language Teachers only.

On the part of resolutions, some of the Lawmakers who were able sponsor a resolution include the Majority Leader, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri(Jada Mbulo) 8, Hon. Bathiya Wesley (Hong) 3, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa), 2, Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki( Yola North) 2, Hon. Abubakar Isa(Shelleng) 2, Hon. Simon Isa( Song) 1, Hon. Japheth Kefas (Gombi) 1, Hon. Umar Nshion Gubi(Nassarawo Binyeri) 1, Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk) 1 and Hon. Haruna Jelantikiri(Madagali) 1.
