POLICE NAB 26 KIDNAPPERS INCLUDING A 15 YEAR OLD BOY IN ADAMAWA


Adamawa State Command has recorded another major breakthrough with the arrest of 26 suspected kidnappers including a 15 year old boy in its efforts towards curtailing kidnapping and other security challenges in the state.

According to the command, the suspects were apprehended in Girei, Song, Gombi and Fufore Local Government Areas by the police in collaboration with Local Hunters led by Sarki Baka Gombi. explaining that the suspects have been charged to court for prosecution.


The Spokesman of the Police Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in his office today, said that the accused were paraded at the headquarters of the Command in the early hours of today.

DSP Nguroje disclosed that the suspects who are of different age brackets were terrorising innocent citizens in the aforementioned LGAs.

He further explained that the 15 year old boy was serving as their informant and supplying food to them at their hideout, adding that the suspects used to give him #50,000 after every successful operation as motivation fee.

Equally, he told newsmen that the Command has been able to arrest 4 suspects who specialised in stealing vehicles at the Jimeta ultra modern market, saying that the Police had received a number of complaints from people about stealing of vehicles.

The PPRO pointed out that it was the Intelligence Department of the Command that was able to fish the suspects and recovered 3 stolen vehicles, urging on those that had their vehicles stolen to go to the Criminal Investigation Department with relevant information to prove the ownership of their cars.

DSP Nguroje stated that the Suspects had confessed to them that they had sold some of the vehicles outside the state capital and stressed the readiness of the Command towards recovering them.

Meanwhile, the Police Command advised the general public to desist from any act or conduct that may likely cause the breakdown of law and order in the state.

A statement signed by the Spokesman of the Command and made available to newsmen today, said that the attention of the Command had been drawn on a planned protest by group of individuals which may likely disrupt peace being enjoyed in the state.

However, he advised that any person or group of persons with grievances to channel it to the appropriate authorities or resort to legal means and not to converge on the streets, blocking the roads and causing fears into the minds of the citizens.
