Adamawa State House of Assembly Member representing Nassarawo Binyeri constituency, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi has asked the Assembly to amend Local Government Establishment and Administration Law No. 8 of 2004, so as to increase the membership of Development Area Advisory Committee.
Already, the bill for the amendment of the law as sponsored by the Lawmaker has scaled through 1st reading at a resumed plenary session presided by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas Monday.
The bill is expected to increase the membership of the Development Area Advisory Committee to cover critical sectors such as Security, Environmental and Special Duties.
According to the sponsor, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi, the amendment in the bill will make Development Areas more effective to meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people at the grassroots.
The Legislator said that the merit of the bill is to make amendment so as to increase Membership of the Advisory Committee to cover Security, Environmental and Special Duties, saying that the Committee will comprise people of proven integrity.
After the 1st reading of the bill, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas directed the Chairman Rules and Business of the Assembly to schedule the bill for second reading at the next legislative day.
This bill by Homourable Umar Nashon Gubi is a welcome development, as this will give more room for other critical sectors to be part of the advisory committee like security, environment and special duties while creating additional space for employment of more competent persons into the Development Area Advisory team.
