YOLA CRIMINAL COURT REMANDS 5 FOR KILLING A DOG
Five middle age men have been remanded in prison custody in Yola, the Adamawa State capital for allegedly killing a dog belonging to Japhet Abdurahaman, a Commander of Vigilante, Luggere ward in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The suspects include; Shamsudeen Saidu, Mohammed Musa, Emmanuel Francis, Major Mela and Mbabe Bononda.
The accused were arraigned before the Criminal Area Court II Jimeta/Yola Today on charges of criminal conspiracy, theft and mischief by killing or maiming animal contrary to sections 60, 277 and 320 of Adamawa State Penal Code Law 2018.
All the 5 suspects subsequently admitted to committing the offences when the charge was read to them.
But the presiding Judge, Honourable Nuhu Musa Garta, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and directed the complainant to produce one more witness to corroborate the plea of guilty by suspects and further adjourned the case to 11th February, 2020.
Earlier, the complainant, Commander Japhet informed the court that the accused masterminded the killing of the dog with bad motive, noting that as a Vigilante, he relied on his dog to carry out his daily operation at night.
While fielding question from NEWS PLATFORM the Commander said he is deeply worried over the killing of dog considering its role in safeguarding the lives and property of the inhabitants of his his area.
