COVID-19: NLC DONATES FACEMASKS TO ADAMAWA GOVT


As part of effort to complementing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration's efforts in containing the spread of Corona virus in Adamawa State, the Organised Labour has donated over 2000 facemasks to the state government.

The Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT) in the state, Comrade Rodney Nathan who presented the facemasks to the Head of Service, Dr.Amos Edgar on behalf of the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emma Fashe said that the fight against pandemic must not be left in the hands of the state government alone, hence the procurement of the facemasks.

According to him, civil servants are at risk of contacting the disease while discharging their official duties, and the need to take safety measures such as wearing of facemasks, using hand sanitisers and frequent washing of hands.

The NLC assured the Head of Service that more facemasks will be procured until all civil servants get enough to aid in curtailing the pandemic.

Responding while collecting the facemasks, Dr. Edgar who was surprised at the gesture demonstrated by the Nigeria Labour Congress and said said they are partners in progress.

Dr. Edgar added that government has made it a policy for every civil servant to wear facemasks while coming to office.

He assured the organised labour that he will extend their gesture to the Governor, and urged other voluntary organisations to emulate NLC.
