RESTORE PEACE, STABILITY IN ADAMAWA CORRESPONDENTS' CHAPEL, NUJ DIRECTS CMTE


Sequel to voluntary resignation of the entire Executive Council of the Correspondents' Chapel in Adamawa state, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Council has constituted a 3-Man Steering Committee with a mandate to restore peace and stability in the Chapel.

The 3-Man Committee has also been directed by the Council to organise fresh and transparent election to fill vacant positions created following the resignation of former Exco within two weeks.

Likewise, the Committee which has Comrade Daji Sani(ThisDay Newspapers) as its Chairman, whlie  Amina Abduullahi (Aminiya Daily Trust) and Onimisi Alao (The Nation Newspapers) as members, is expected to liaise with mother union periodically to avoid breach of constitution regarding the conduct of the polls.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Fidelis Jockthan and made available to NEWS PLATFORM Monday, said that the setting up of the committee followed voluntary resignation of the entire Exco on the 25th May, 2020.

It explained that the Council during its emergency meeting with the resigned leaders, commended their maturity and foresight in taking the bold decision in the interest of the union.

It further urged the new Committee to ensure that all properties belonging to the union, including instruments of leadership are taken care off.
