As part of strategic approach to checkmating the nefarious activities of the notorious Shila boys within Yola the Adamawa capital, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju has set up a taskforce with an order to go after the cult group.

However, the CP has warned citizens in the state to desist from taking laws into their hands or face the full wrath of the law.

The hoodlums who specialise in snatching GSM mobile phones, hand bags and other valuables have resurfaced again in recent times after being tackled by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri upon assumption of office.

This followed the reported cases of their activities just as many hapless citizens continue to fall victims of the boys who make use of knives and other dangerous weapons to attack their victims in the event of possible resistance.

It could be recalled that about 3 Shila boys were on Saturday last week burnt to death at Nasarawo in Jimeta Yola, by a mob after snatching a mobile phone of an unsuspecting citizen.

But as part renewed commitment to ruthlessly deal with the situation, the police command under the new commissioner of police, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju formed the taskforce to with a view to ending the activities of the boys.

The taskforce under the headship of Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP), Ajani Misibahu was directed to ransack all the hideouts of the boys most especially within the state capital.

A statement by the Image Maker of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to NEWS PLATFORM Sunday said that command had since inaugurated the taskforce and urged it to swing into action.

While inaugurating them, the CP had urged the team to be professional in the course of discharging its duties and mandated them to operate within the context of the law.

The Command further appealed to the general public to stop taking laws into their hands and equally urged them to report any suspicious movement around them for immediate response.

Furthermore, it gave out: 0808 9671 313,0810 7364 974 as emergency numbers for the public to call in case of emergencies.

It reassured the general public of its commitment to protecting lives and property while calling on people to stay at home and remain safe so as to avoid the spread of Covid -19 pandemic.
