Governor Ahmadu Umaru of Adamawa state has applauded the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) State chapter for constructing a petrol station in the state as part of efforts to boost its sources of revenue
Governor Fintiri who applauded the union during a commissioning ceremony of Adamawa NUT Petro Gas Nigeria Limited, along Yola -Girei road on Thursday, described the initiative as the right thing in the right direction.
He said that his administration has valued teachers and taken the welfare of civil servants paramount, declaring that such will continue in order to accord teachers the desired attention looking at their importance in the work of imparting knowledge in the people.
He revealed that his administration has embarked on rehabilitation of schools across the state and very soon all the 600 secondary schools in Adamawa will be fixed to improve atmosphere of teaching and learning.
In her remark, the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Wilbina Jackson re-echoed the free education of Fintiri’s govermment and commended him for it
Contributing, the State Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe appreciated Governor Fintiri for fulfilling his promise on civil servants and approving continuation of payment of minimum wage and consequential adjustment effective from this month.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Chairman NUT Comrade Rodney Nathan noted with satisfaction the good relationship between the present administration and labour union in the state which he described as encouraging.
He explained that the Petrol Gas station was built out of the N500 monthly dues of Teachers Welfare Scheme and commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for fulfilling his pledge to promote primary school teachers.
