Rev Joel S. Billi, President Church of Brethren in Nigeria (EYN).
The Church of Brethren in Nigeria (EYN) in Adamawa state is hosting brethren across 20 Nations for its maiden global Christian gathering at its headquarters in Kwarhi, Hong Local Government Area in the state.
According to the church, the maiden global gathering of the brethren from more than 20 countries is the first of its kind in the history of EYN globally.
The 6 Day gathering which commences Yesterday Sunday, will avail the participants golden opportunity to meet for the first time, get acquainted to peculiar spiritual challenges facing member countries and Biblically proffer solution on those problems.
But what worries the church right from the commencement of the gathering is how several brethren from India, Haiti, Brazil and host of other countries were outrightly denied Visa by the Nigerian authorities.
The President EYN, Rev Joel S. Billi who made this known while fielding questions from NEWS PLATFORM yesterday, said that the church in the state is going to host hundreds of brethren from Sunday to Friday this week.
However, he lamented a situation whereby several of their brethren who wanted to attend the meeting from other countries were denied Visa by Nigerian authorities in the affected countries.
The President said:" for Nigeria to deny visa to people who have good intention for the country is quiet alarming, and that it has devastated them" lamenting that one can never imagine that Nigeria will deny Visa to any person so long that person has good intention for the country.
The man of God lamented that the brethren from the affected countries went to the Nigerian embassies many times seeking for visa but to no avail, saying efforts to that effect proved abortive.
According to him, EYN globally does not have any forum that brings them together, and that by the special grace of God, he will be hosting brethren from nooks and crannies of the world, saying it is going to be a round table discussion aimed at addressing some of the challenges facing them as church of God.
Rev Billi added that the programme is all about all brethren globally gathering for the first time in the history of the brethren around the world, saying that they have never met, hence their decision to meet for the first time in history.
According to him, the meeting will enable them know about challenges each member country is encountering and how best to resolve them based on the word of God.
He said that the church should expect unity and continued stand on what Bible forbids, and prayed God to see them through their historic gathering.
