In fulfilment of his promise, the Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Pwamwakaino Mackondo has distributed bags of rice and beans to the October flood victims in his constituency.
It could be recalled that some communities in Numan and other Local Government Areas that reside at the bank of river Benue in the state were ravaged by flood as a result of huge volume of water released from Lagdo Dam by the Cameroonian authorities in October this year.
But when he visited some of the communities in his constituency to sympathise with them over the incident, the Deputy Speaker promised to personally reach out to them with some relief materials.
It is in the light of the above that the Deputy Speaker constituted a committee headed by executive Chairman Numan Local Government Numan LGC, Hon. Innocent Koto, and presented with relief materials for upward distribution to the victims.
Speaking while presenting the materials to the Chairman of the Committee for upward distribution to the victims, the Deputy Speaker said that the kind gesture was in fulfilment of promise made to those affected by the disaster.
Hon. Mackondo said he was deeply touched when he saw the level of damage caused by the flooding on some of the communities in his constituency, observing that the flood displaced hundreds of his electorate, hence his promise to distribute the relief materials.
The legislator said that though the House of Assembly had adopted resolutions for the National and State emergency agencies to provide them with some relief materials to ameliorate their suffering.
As their representative, Hon. Mackondo explained that he found it necessary to personally provide them with the relief materials in fulfilment of his promise made to them when he was there to commiserate with them over the incident.
He added that the materials will also enable his people celebrate Christmas with it, and pledged his commitment towards providing quality representation.
Speaking while receiving the materials for upward distribution to the victims, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the Chairman Numan Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Koto promised to deliver the materials to the victims.
Hon. Innocent Koto commended the Deputy Speaker for reaching out to the affected at unique time, and pledged the readiness of the LGA towards supporting and cooperating with him so as to enable him succed in his representation.
