HOW 17 YR OLD GIRL ESCAPED BEING SLAUTHERED BY "SHILA" BOYS



A 17 year old girl, Suweba Musa, of bye pass in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa state would have been dead by now if not because of the timely intervention of a vigilante, Musa Abubakar.


Suweba, narrowly escaped death by whiskers when 3 dreaded "Shila" boys, Jamilu Shuaibu (aka Bayinta), Abdulrazak Abubakar(aka Goska) and Baba (now at large) invaded their house and threatened to slaugther her by putting a knife on her neck.


The teenager who cheated death was earlier sent on errand by her mother to buy clothes for her younger brother at a super market in Yola town by 7:00pm, on the 12th May, 2021.


The young girl had while returning back from the super market, encountered the suspected "Shila" boys who stopped the tricycle conveying her and gave a dirty slap, and further threatened to kill her.


As if that were not enough, the suspects trailed the young lady to their residence and intercepted her befere she could enter their house,  where they put a knife on her neck and threatened to slit her throat. 


But while the drama was going on, a neighbour of the victim, Musa Abubakar, who saw what was happening, took the bull by the horns and confronted the boys with a view rescuing the dying girl.


It was as a result of his timely and deadly decision to face the hoodlums that thet the boys transfered their anger on him where they mercilessly macheted him with a cutlass on his head, arms and shoulder as a result of which he sustained injuries.


After the attack, the boys fled the scene of the crime, but could not escaspe as 2 of them were apprehended by the team of Operation Farauta with stolen items including handset and plasma tv while armed with matchet and a knife.


They were subsequentyly investigated and arraigned before Chief Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, for alleged criminal conspiracy, theft in dwelling house, causing a person grievious hurt and extortion by putting criminal intimidation contrary and punishable under sections 60(1) and (2), 61(1), 279 and 285(1), 382, 383 of the state penal code law.


When arraigned in court on Thursday, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the alleged offences after the particulars of complaint was read and explained to them as earlier prayed by M. A. Adamu, counsel to the complainant.


However, M. A. Adamu (Senior State Counsel 2) applied that the matter be adjourned to enable him call 6 witnesses as well as tender exhibits to establish his case against them. 


The presiding judge, Japhet Ibrahim Basani, granted the application and adjourned the case to the 6th September, 2021, for commencement of trial, and ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.
