MAN REMANDED FOR STABBING OKADA RIDER TO DEATH DURING WEDDING



The Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has remanded a farmer, Labiga Zikini, for allegedly stabbing a commercial motorcycle operator, Hashim Mamman, to death.


Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Ulenda, ordered for the remand of the defendant after he pleaded guilty for the offence of culpable homicide.


The incident occured during a wedding at Filin Kari Guyuk Local Government Area, Adamawa state.


According to the prosecution, Labiga Zikini, 22, of Purakayo in Guyuk Local Government Area, allegedly stabbed the deceased with a broken bottle on his ribs, stomarch and head leading to his untimely death.


The prosecution in First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court, by Inspector Ali Emma, alleged that the defendant stabbed the commercial motorcycle operator during free for all at the wedding ceremony on the 12th August, 2021, around 8:00pm.


It disclosed that the the deceased earlier hit Labiga, with a motorcycle at the venue of the event, and that fight broke out when Labiga, sought to know the reason why late Hashim hit him with the motorcycle.


It added that Idris Isa, Jinjile Boyi, Idi Dahiru, also joined the fight which led to killing of the deceased. 


The prosecution told the court that late Hashim, was rushed to Guyuk cottage hospital immediately after the incident for medical attention, but later confirmed death by the medical personnel.


Narrating the incident to NEWS PLATFORM, shortly after the sitting, Labiga, said that his victim and other young men fell him on the ground, and that he was left with no option than to defend himself because of threat to his life.


Ruling on the application by the prosecutor to duplicate case for legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Chief Magistrate Ulenda, granted the application and adjourned the case to the 30th September, 2021, and also ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody till then
