JUDICIARY STAFF TO SMILE HOME SOON AS ADHA MOVES TO PASS AUTONOMY BILL



Staff of Adamawa State Judiciary may soon smile home as a bill for a law to provide for financial independence of judiciary has successfully scaled through 1st and 2nd reading at the State House of Assembly.


The bill which was presented before the honourable house by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, was granted 1st and 2nd respectively following a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri(Jada/Mbulo) and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Muhammed Mutawali(Girei) respectively.


After the accelerated reading of the bill, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas, committed it to the House Coomittee on Judiciary headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo(Numan) for scrutiny and given 2 weeks to submit its report.


Whenever the committee submitted its report, the house will receive, consider, adopt and slate it for third reading after which a clean copy will be transmitted to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for assent and implementation.


The bill tagged, "a bill for a law to provide for the Management of Funds Accruing to the State Judiciary from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State to ensure accountability, transparency, effective and efficient utilisation of the funds" was earlier submitted to the Assembly for consideration and passage by Comrade Aminu Abdulkadir, Legal Adviser to Adamawa JUSUN.


Comrade Aminu, who has been up and doing to see to the passage of the bill was of the view that the enactment of law will ensure smooth running of judicial system in the state, 


The judiciary staff like their counterpart in other states of the federation have been agitating for financial autonomy so as to be free to perform their functions effectively without fear or favour.
