ADHA RECEIVES 5 PETITIONS...PROBES ALLEGED SALE OF JUDGES' HOUSE, BULLDOZER BY M/BELWA LGC BOSS



Adamawa state of Assembly has begun an investigation into an alleged illegal sale of an house meant for Area Court Judge by the Executive Chairman Mayo Belwa Local Government Council, Hon. Gershon Kasuwa.


The Chairman was alleged to have illegaly sold the judges' house which had been in existence for over 40 years, a piece of land owned by clinic which is located at old market Mbilla ward, plots of land, a bulldozer, a tractor and roofing iron along M/Belwa Zing road belonging to the council.


To investigate the allegations, the Assembly, presided by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, on Monday constituted a 7 member committee headed by the Chairman House Standing Committee on Works, Land and Survey, and Member representing Madagali constituency, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri, with a mandate to look into the issues and given 2 weeks to submit its findings.


Earlier, the 2 page petition dated 23rd August, 2021, and fowarded to the hallowed chamber by Musa Abubakar, a Concerned Citizen, was tendered before the Assembly by the Chairman House Standing Commiittee on Public Petitions and Electoral Matters and the Member representing Guyuk constituency, Hon. Adwawa Donglock.


Hon. Adwawa, who is the Deputy Chief Whip, informed the Honourable House that his Committee had received 5 different petitions on different issues and tendered same for consideration after which the speaker, Iya Abbas, referred them to various House Committees for investigation.


But in his petition entitled," Complaint Against Illegal Sale of Government Lands and Property by the Chairman Mayo Belwa Local Government" Abubakar, averred that the complaint became imperative to put a hold to sell of land and property meant for the LGA.


Abubakar, alleged that Hon. Kasuwa, depleted Technical Skills Acquisition Centre, and that Suleiman Muhammed, the man who bought the roofing irton is now in police custody, while others are at large, and prayed the house to thoroughly investigate the matter as well as revoke the property.


Other petitions received by the Assembly include; "complaint against the conduct of Ardo Ahmadu Hamma of Muninga in Fufore LGA over sells of land belonging to the community over 180 years to non-indigenes" and "petition for timely intervention in respect to gross misconduct, mischief and mismanagement/misappropriation of Adamawa United/Adamawa Queens Football club under the Administration of Emmanuel Zira".


It could be recalled that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, had last week, sacked Zira, following petition by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) which asked the Governor to remove him due poor management of Adamawa United.


Other petitions are; "Complaint against criminal trespass, destruction of Government Intervention property and denial of access to my plot of land at Mayo road by former Senator, Professor, Andrawus Sawa" and a situation report by students studying at Mewar University in India.
