A Chief Magistrate Court 1Jimeta in Adamawa state on Thursday, remanded 3 Students of the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, accused impregnating, killing and burying a girlfriend in shallow grave.
Chief Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro, ordered for the remand of the accused persons including; Munir Abubakar, 21, Huzaifa Shuaibu, 24, and Rabiu Adamu, 29, after pleading guilty to the heinous crime.
The trio were arraigned before the court for the offences of criminal conspiracy, causing of death by an act done with intend to cause abortion, abatement and causing disappearance of evidence contrary to sections 60, 204, 47 and 133 of ther penal code law, 2018.
Franca Elisha, who was a Diploma 2 Student of the Department of Library Science, Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, was impregnated by her male colleague and 1st defendant, Munir Abubakar, who connived with 2 other defendants and killed her while trying to abort the pregnacy.
But in an effort to ensure justice for the deceased, the Commissioner of Police, CP A.A.Alhaji, who was represented by Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP), Francis Audu, on Thursday charged the accused persons before the Magistrate Court for trial.
In a First Information Report tendered in court by ASP Francis, CP Alhaji, told the court that the father of the deceased, Elisha Iliya, of Wuro Ardo, Mubi North Local Government Area, reported to the police that his daughter, left home for school on the 6th August, 2021, but could not return back, and that all effort to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
According to him, police investigation revealed that it was Munir Abubakar, who put Franca, in a family way and subsequently engaged the 24 year old Huzaifa, and a Pharmaceutical Student of the same institution to secretly terminate the pregnancy.
He informed the court that Huzaifa injected late Franca, with quinine and oxyteocine as a result of which she went into coma and subsequently died, and took her corpse to a nearby bush by night with the help of Rabiu Adamu and buried her.
But when the content of the FIR was read and interpreted to the defendants in Hausa language for their understanding, all of them admitted committing the crime.
Thereafter, the Prosecutor, ASP Francis Audu, prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable the prosecution forward the case file to DPP State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
Ruling, Chief Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro, adjourned the matter to the 30th September, 2021, for fiurther mention and ordered that all the defendants be remanded in prison custody till then.
