ADHA CONSTITUTES 5 CTTEES TO ASSESS PROJECTS OF THE 21 LGC CHAIRMEN



Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, constituted 5 ad hoc committees with a mandate to assess the performance of the 21 Local Government Councils' Chairmen.


The Assembly has given the committees 7 terms of reference with which to determine the performance of the Local Government Councils' Chairmen for the past 22 months of their assumption of office.


According to the Assembly, Hon. Simon Isa (Song) is to head the committee that will visit Numan, Lamurde, Guyuk and Shelleng LGAs, while Hon. Hamidu Sajo Lekki(Yola North) is to head the committee that will visit Toungo, Ganye, Jada and Mayo Belwa LGAs.


Hon. Bathiya Wesley(Hong) led committee is to storm Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Michika and Madagali LGAs, while Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno is expected to tour Girei, Song, Gombi and Hong LGAs.


The Assembly mandated Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi(Nasarawo Binyeri), to assess the projects executed by the Chairmen of Yola South, Yola North, Fufore and Demsa, while the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amimu Iya Abbas, Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader, Minority Leader are to serve as Central Committee that will verify the reports of the committees.


Speaking while announcing the composition of the committees, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the committees to carry out their assignment and submit their report within one week.


He further directed the committees to assess the compliance of the LGC Bosses with legislative provisions, performance in the security sector, infrastructural development, education sector, health care improvement at the grasstroots level, internally generated revenue and youth and women empowerment.


He directed them to contact councillors and supervisory councillors exluding leaders of the councils, traditional rulers, security apparatus and co-stakeholders of the LGCs, and urged them to carry out their assignment with immediate effect.
