A 19 year old divorce seeking bride, Rumasau Muhammed, on Wednesday, admitted stabbing her husband, Mohammed Adamu, with a knife to death.
The teen bride who was arraigned before Yola Chief Magistrate Court 1 Admin, Adamawa state, pleaded guilty for culpable homicide contrary to section 191 of the state penal code law, 2018.
Rumasau, who hails from Wuro Yanka in Shelleng Local Government Area, was recently arrested by the police for allegedly killing her husband following his continued refusal to divorce her.
She was said to had been forcefully married to the 35 year old Mohammed, and that since then, the deceased could not know peace following her nagging demand for separation.
NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the marriage was contracted on the 6th August, 2021, against her will, and the teenager decided to end their union by way of stabbing her husband with a knife on his stomarch.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) presented in court by ASP Francis Audu, the defendant butchered the deceased as a result of which he fell down unconscious, and that he was rushed to the Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
When the content of the FIR was read to the defendant when she was arraigned in court as earlier prayed by the prosecutor, she admitted committing the offence.
After her plea, the prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable police complete investigation as well as transmit case file to Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
Ruling, Chief Magistrate Aliyu Bawuro, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to the 13th October, 2021, for further mention.
