Sen Iya Abbas Donates Empowerment Items, Says He is Confident in Governing Adamawa
Adamawa Central Senator, Aminu Iya Abbas, on Saturday distributed assorted empowerment items to his constituents across the district as part of efforts to support livelihoods and boost economic activities.
Items distributed at the event included 60 cars, 130 motorcycles, 50 cargo trucks, 25 tricycles (keke), 50 generators, 40 refrigerators, and 90 assorted sewing machines, among others.
The beneficiaries mostly youth and women folk cut across Hong, Gombi, Song, Girei, Yola North, Yola South and Fufore LGAs.
Speaking during the programme held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Senator Abbas highlighted some of his legislative achievements, including the sponsorship of six bills and several motions.
He stated that the empowerment initiative was designed to improve the welfare of his constituents and create opportunities for self-reliance, assuring that he will continue to do more for his people.
The Senator, who is contesting the governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make productive use of the items.
On the forthcoming APC primary election, the governorship hopeful assured that he is confident of winning the election, saying he has requisite qualities to government the state.
He also commended the people of Adamawa State for their support for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri throughout his eight-year tenure, calling for sustained progress through capable leadership.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Good Governance, Dr. Adamu Babikkoi, praised the initiative and disclosed that the senator would soon roll out an additional 1,000 scholarships for constituents.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Alexander Barunde, commended Senator Abbas for the gesture and encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the items effectively for economic growth.
Hon. Isa Bagalchi, who represented the state party chairman at the event, expressed appreciation to the senator for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.
