ADHA Legislates on Bill to Provide Electricity for Adamawa

Adamawa State House of Assembly has taken steps towards enacting a law aimed at providing electricity for the citizens in Adamawa state. Already, a bill for a law to provide a comprehensive legal and institutional framework for electricity services in Adamawa State on Tuesday, scaled first and second reading at the assembly. The bill tagged "the Adamawa State Electricity Bill 2025, seeks to repeal the Gongola Basin Energy Development Company Law of 2009 and establish a modern framework for electricity generation, transmission, distribution, supply, trading, and the protection of consumer rights within the state".  Likewise, the bill is meticulously designed to create a functional electricity market for Adamawa state. Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, urged Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to suspend the Executive Chairman Madagali LGC, Hon. Simon Sashi for allegedly closing public schools. News Platform  The assembly urged Fintiri to suspend him for 1 month pending the outcome of investigation to be carried out by the joint committees on education and LG Affairs of the assembly. Hon. Simon allegedly shutdown all public schools in the LGA without the consent of the relevant authorities. The suspension followed a motion to that effect by the Majority Leader of the assembly and Member representing Demsa Constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, who presided the sitting, directed the Clerk to the assembly to communicate the recommendations of the assembly to the Governor. 

Gov Fintiri Debunks Information on School Closure

The Adamawa State Government has debunked a misleading information circulating in some quarters about school closure. This is contained in a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou. Fintiri described the information that the government had ordered schools to shutdown as false, baseless and unfounded. “At no point did the Government direct schools to close, and we have no intention to do so. This malicious rumor is the work of mischief makers who are bent on tarnishing the image of the Government and disrupting the public peace.” it explained. Adamawa Butcher who Bagged 17 Yrs Jail Term over N150,000 Regains Freedom

A Butcher identified as Umaru Usman of Shelleng LGA Adamawa state, who was convicted and sentenced to 17 years in imprisonment has been discharged. News Platform  Usman was incarcerated for 17 years over N150,000 debt by the Shelleng Area Court presided by Hon. Musa Fari. In case number CR/99/025, the court sent the convict to Numan Correctional Centre  for the offence of criminal breach of trust and cheating where he was serving his jail term with custody number E.1090/035. He was discharged and ordered to pay the sum of N150,000 to the complainant after he returns home. The convict was freed by the Adamawa state Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdulrahman led Jail Delivery Committee when her committee visited Numan Custodial Centre for prison dicongestion. The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has received 21 operational vehicles donated by Governor Ahmadu Umaru of Adamawa state. The vehicles, Innoson IVM G6C/GRANITE Series, consist of double-cabin pickup Hilux fitted with security gadgets. The effort of Governor Fintiri is aimed at supporting the ongoing efforts at repositioning the crime-fighting strategy for optimum performance in the state. Donating the vehicles, Governor Fintiri, assured of his continued support to the command’s community policing aimed at preventing crime before it happens and make the state peaceful, safe, and secure. A 24 years old man identified as Usama Abdullahi, has been sentenced to community service in Shelleng LGA, Adamawa State for theft. News Platform  Usama, who works at a car wash in Shelleng, was sentenced to community service following the review of his 2 years jail term slammed to him by the court in the LGA. The convict had his sentence reviewed by the Adamawa  State Jail Delivery Committee chaired by the Chief Judge, Adamawa State, Hon. Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman. Justice Hafsat, reviewed the sentence of the convict when her committee visited Shelleng Satellite Custodial Facility on Wednesday for prison dicongestion.
