ADAMAWA LGCS WORKERS VOW TO HOLD THEIR CHAIRMEN ACCOUNTABLE

Following the financial autonomy given to Local Government Councils by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state, workers across the Local Government Councils in the state  have vowed to hold  their chairmen accountable on how their resources are utilised.

The workers said that their councils have been given financial autonomy by the Governor so as to be in control of their finances, and said that they will make their chairmen accountable on what goes in and out at their various local government councils.

Some of the workers in Michika, Numan, Toungo, Mayo Belwa and Hong Local Government Areas respectively who spoke to the NEWS PLATFORM, insisted that they will not allow their bosses to go scot free without subjecting them to transparency and accountability.

The workers added that they will not give them breathing space until they properly account for what they collected from the federation account every month.

One of the workers in Mayo Belwa LGC, Mallam Alhassan, said he could not believe that at a time like this LGCs across state will be financially autonomous considering the terrible time they had passed through during the immediate past administration.

Alhassan said that what is left for them as workers is to do everything possible towards ensuring that their finances are accounted for the progress of their LGA, applauding the Governor for reviving the LGCs.

A staff of Toungo LGC, Mr Audu Haningi, stated that they were impressed by the steps taken by the Governor to restore the lost glory of the LGCs, and appealed to the chairmen to be faithful with whatever is given to them in the interest of the people at the grassroots.

On his part, Dwapori Hagwada, a staff of Numan LGC posited that it will be great disservice on their part if they allow their bosses to be doing what they want with their resources without any effor to checkmate them.

Likewise, some of the workers in Hong and Michika LGCs respectively who bared their minds to the NEWS PLATFORM, advised their colleagues across the 21 LGCs to do their own part and at the same support their chairmen to enable the work for them.
