ATTACKS: NUMAN FEDERATION DECRIES LACK OF IMPLEMENTATION OF 3Rs

Following 2016/17 attacks on communities in Numan Federation which claimed several lives while destroying property worth millions, a Non Governmental Organisation, Numan Federation Foundation has cried out for lack of implementation of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reconciliation (3Rs) by the Federal Government in the affected areas.

It could be recalled that communities in the federation were attacked by herdsmen which saw the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, visiting such some of the communities to commiserate and ascertain level of damage caused by attacks.

But speaking at a First Special Dinner organised by the foundation in honour of the State Deputy Governor, Chief Crowther Seth, National and State Lawmakers during the week, the President of the foundation, Mr. Maliki Daniel, observed dismay lack of implementation of 3Rs in the attacks affected communities.

Mr. Daniel however appealed to the FG to commence the reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation of areas where the herdsmen have caused destruction to lives and property.

According to him, Borno, Yobe and some parts of Adamawa states are currently undergoing reconstruction and rehabilitation because of the mayhem caused by the insurgents, saying that the destruction caused to Numan Federation consequent upon the attacks by the terrorists, equally deserves the same treatment in order to restore peace and harmony and room for reconciliation in the region.

The President posited that they were made to understand that shortly after some major attacks on their people at beginning of the crisis, the FG carried out Needs Assessment in the affected areas but wondered why the execution of the 3Rs is yet to commence after almost 2 years.

He saluted the raw courage and gallantry of their people particularly the youth who fiercely and doggedly stood their grounds against what he described as unsolicited provocation from the terrorists until they were defeated.

He explained that their young men have realised that they do not have any other place to call their own except the one that was chosen and bequeathed to their grandfathers by God, and which must therefore be defended at all cost.
