ADHA C'TTEE CHAIR TASKS LGTCs, ROYAL FATHERS ON SECURITY



Newly inaugurated House Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adamawa State House of Assembly has tasked Local Government Transition Committees to liase with traditional institutions in order to promote security in their communities.

The Chairman of the committee who is also the member representing Nassarawo Binyeri constituency, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi, stated this in his inaugural speech shortly after the inauguration of his committee by the speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas recently.

Hon Umar Nashon, disclosed that the present administration is very much concern about the issue security of lives and property, and therefore called on the Transition Committees to liase with District and Village Heads and other stakeholders to maintain peace and unity at their affected areas.

He reminded them that one of the primary reason behind constituting the committees is to create awareness for people at the grassroots to live in peace to enable them contribute their part for the development of their communities.

He challenged them not to depend solely on what will come from the federation account, but look inward and diversify other sources of Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) so as to get enough resources at their disposal for smooth running of their LGAs.
