TRIBUNAL RESERVES JUDGMENT IN SUIT CHALLENGING MUSA BORORO'S ELECTION



The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yola, the Adamawa state capital has reserved judgement in a suit filed by the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Yakubu Musa Dirbishi, challenging the election of the incumbent Member representing Mubi South Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon Umar Musa Bororo.

The decision by the court to reserve the judgement was sequel to the adoption of final addresses by the counsels to the parties involved in the petition at yesterday's proceedings.

The court which was presided by Justice Suleiman Akanbi, however said that the date of the judgment will be communicated to the parties involved.

Hon. Yakubu Dirbishi, of the PDP has dragged Hon. Musa Bororo, the incumbent member representing the constituency and close ally of former Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla, to the court over the allegations of irregularities in the election that brought him to power.

Likewise, the court has fixed 15th August, 2019, for adopion of final withdrawal addresses by Jaafaru Suleiman Ribadu, who had earlier filed petition challenging the election of former member representing Yola North, Yola South and Girei at the House of Representatives, Abdulrauf Modibbo.

It could be recalled that the Supreme court had last week sacked Abdulrauf, who won election on the platform of APC, after it was confirmed that he falsified his age to enable him contest the election.

The apex court further ordered the electoral body to issue certificate of return to the candidate of PDP, Jaafaru Ribadu, who secured second highest number of votes at the general election.

It was after the judgement of the court that Jaafaru Ribadu approached the Tribunal in Yola, seeking for the withdrawal of the suit he had earlier instituted against Abdulrauf.

Also, the court has set aside15th August, 2019, for the adoption of addresses in the case of Muktar Kabiru, PDP verses the incumbent membet representing Mayo Belwa, Jada, Toungo, and Ganye constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulrazaq Namdas, of APC for the constituency.
