ADAMAWA PLANNING COMM APPEALS FOR AMENDMENT OF LAW

Adamawa State Planning Commission has appealed to the Standing Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation of the state Assembly to facilitate the amendment of the law establishing the Commission.

The Commission made the appeal while receiving the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa Constituency) who was at the Commission on a familiarisation visit today.

Earlier, Hon. Kate Mamuno, told the principal officers of the Commission that she was at their office to interface, relate and acquaint herself with the Commission so that it will not be that they will sit at the house only and deliberate on issues affecting them.

Responding, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mohammed Gangs, said that the Commission was established to plan most especially the state budget and monitor its implementation whenever it is assented to by the executive arm.

Gangs observed that since 1999, when the bill establishing the Commission was enacted, it has not been amended to make it be in conformity with changing times, calling on the Committee to facilitate the amendment of the bill.

He added that the Commission has a lot of request to forward to the house through the Committee, and implored on the Committee to come to their aid so the Commission will live up to expectations.
