Adamawa CAN Condemns Persistent Attacks on Communities

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State Chapter, has strongly condemned senseless acts of violence against innocent citizens in Madagali, Hong and Gombi LGAs.

The association expressed concern over continuous shedding of innocent blood and forceful displacement of rightful land owners, saying that such attacks must be brought to decisive end.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the association, Rev Dr Joel Danjuma Manzo, and made available to newsmen in Yola, Adamawa state.

He lamented that the unfortunate incidents have led to the loss of many innocent lives, destruction of property, and the displacement of law-abiding citizens from their ancestral homes.

"This development is not only tragic but deeply troubling, especially at a critical time like this—when our people are returning to their farms with hope, seeking to provide daily sustenance for their families", he added.

He appreciated the sacrifices of the security agencies, and expressed confidence in their capacity, professionalism, and resilience to restore peace and order.

He called on the relevant authorities both at the state and federal levels to rise to the urgency of the moment and take swift and decisive action to halt attacks and prevent further loss of lives.

He urged security agencies to strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities, particularly in rural farming areas to ensure the safe return and protection of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.

He appealed to securing agencies to bring perpetrators of the heinous acts to justice, to serve as a deterrent to others and mplement sustainable measures that will address the root causes of these conflicts and prevent reoccurrence.

"We urge our leaders to act not tomorrow, but now—before the situation escalates beyond control. The people of Adamawa are looking up to you with hope and expectation. We are counting on your leadership, your resolve, and your commitment to safeguard lives and preserve the dignity of our communities.

"To our people, we call for calm, unity, and cooperation with security agencies. Let us not take the law into our hands but continue to uphold peace even in the face of provocation", he stated.

Rev. Dr Joel Danjuma Manzo, also called on the Church and all people of faith to rise in prayer, trusting God for divine intervention, comfort for the bereaved, and healing for our land.
