Chief Vunobolki, 3,000 Supporters Return to PDP, Berates APC

Barely 3 weeks after his defection to the APC in Adamawa State, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, on Thursday, announced his return to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Vunobolki, announced his return to PDP along side about 3,000 supporters during Press conference in Yola, Adamawa state

He said, "I formally resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) three weeks after joining it. The decision was guided by personal principle and deep fidelity to my conscience, not convenience.

During my brief time in the APC, it became evident that certain practices and internal processes within the party in the state did not align with the democratic values I hold—particularly with respect to fairness, transparency, and the ability of members to freely participate and compete on a level playing field.

According to him, political parties are expected to embody the democratic ideals they seek to promote in society, saying where such ideals are compromised, it becomes necessary to take a stand, which he did.

He said, "In the days that followed, I embarked on wide-ranging consultations with my supporters, political associates, and key stakeholders across the state and national level.

"Those engagements were thoughtful, honest, and deeply instructive. They reaffirmed a shared commitment to fairness, equity, and genuine democratic participation".

"Today, I formally announce my return to the PDP. Our decision is rooted in the belief that the PDP today, provides a more open and inclusive platform—one that upholds internal democracy, encourages constructive engagement, and allows individuals to freely express and pursue their aspirations without undue limitation", he added.

He said that beyond party affiliation, his focus remains steadfast: to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Adamawa State through transparent leadership, inclusive governance, and policies that expand opportunities for our people—especially our youth, women, and grassroots communities.

"I, together with about 3,000 of our supporters across the state, have accordingly completed our e-registration as of Sunday, April 19th, 2026. I call on all our supporters who have been waiting for our direction to register immediately as members of the PDP," he stated.

He appreciated the leadership of the PDP at both the state and national levels for and pledged his loyalty to the PDP.
