Ex-NIRSAL Boss Declares for Senate Adamawa Central, Pledges Quality Representation



Former Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) NIRSAL, Alh. Aliyu Abbati Abdulhameed, has declared his intention to contest the Adamawa Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.


Alh. Abbati, declared to his intention to contest for the seat come 2027, during an interactive session with journalists in Yola, Adamawa state capital on Sunday, pledging to provide people oriented representation at the National Assembly.


He said that he is offering himself for senate in the forthcoming general election, and appealed to the electorate to rally round him to enable him win the election and to provide quality representation.


He said "I am not going to Abuja to warm a seat and keep it warm. I am going there to work, to legislate, to advocate, to negotiate, to attract projects and to make the federal government more visible in Adamawa state".


According to him, Adamawa central senatorial district is blessed with history, location, people, enterprise, farmland, waterways, intellect, and most importantly, strategic relevance, yet too many of their communities are still burdened by flooding, unemployment, weak infrastructure among others.


He highlighted his numerous achievements and legacy at NIRSAL and particularly in the agricultural sector, and promised to deploy his wealth of experience toward impacting the lives of his electorate.


He emphasized the need for community self-sufficiency and providing opportunities for women and young people to become self reliant, and further promised to tackle poverty, promote agriculture and address recurring farmer -herder clashes and their causes.


He outlined plans to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and also proposed measures to provide livelihood support, water supply and rural infrastructure through quality legislation, lobbying and motions.


He highlighted the need for working collaboration with the Cameroonian government to manage water releases, address flooding caused by silted riverbeds, create lateral channels to divert flood waters for irrigation purposes.


He expressed confidence in the party's decision making process for the primary or consensus, and assured that as a loyal party member he cannot go against what their party decides, saying "if we go to primaries, our prayer is that I become the winner".


He extolled the federal government of Nigeria under President, Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who is really holding a forte for them at the federal level, and applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for transforming the state.


Alh. Abbati, was born in Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State, and has dedicated his professional life to transforming Nigeria's agricultural sector through innovative finance, strategic policy, and sustainable development.


Senatorial Aspirant, Adama Aliyu Abbati Abdulhameed is a distinguished Nigerian agricultural scientist, economist, and policy strategist whose career spans over three decades of sustained public service and private sector leadership. 


His academic formation reflects both breadth and depth. Born in Limawa Ward of Jimeta, Yola North LGA into the family of Alhaji Hamidu Zango,- Abbati started his academic journey at the Central Primary School Jimeta then gained admission as a student in Government Secondary School Mubi, where his outstanding academic performance and character earned him the position of the Head Boy of the school. 


He holds a B.SC in Agriculture and Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtained in 1987 a foundation that shaped his early intellectual commitment to Nigeria's agrarian economy. He later earned a Master of Public Administration from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna in 2013.


In his remarks, the Director General Abdulhameed Campaign Organisation and former Member Adamawa House of Assembly Gombi Constituency, Hon. Japhet Kefas, described as a detribalised, experienced leader who is equal to the task.


Hon. Japhet Kefas, said that the session created opportunity for the media and the public to understand the aspirant's ideas, priorities and plans for effective representation.
