Prince D. D. Azura Declares for Adamawa Governorship Race



A Legal Luminary, Founder and Principal Counsel of D.D. Azura and Co. Barr. D.D. Azura, on Thursday, formally declared his interest to contest for Governorship under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Barr. Azura, announced his intention to run for governorship in 2027, while addressing the leadership of the APC at the secretariat in Yola, Adamawa, emphasising his commitment to justice, accountability and service.


He told the leadership of the party that he was privilege to serve as State Counsel in the defunct Gongola State, Executive Chairman of Hong Local Government Council, Member and later Chairman of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP), whereI led reforms that made dispute resolution faster, fairer, and more transparent. 


"I do not come before you with empty words. I come with over 41 years of tested service, with a clean record, and with the fear of God. When I pick the ticket of our party, I will give Adamawa a government that listen that works, and that delivers justice to all.


"With deep humility and gratitude to Almighty God, I stand before you today, Wednesday 22nd April 2026, to pay respect to this great assembly and to answer a call that has come from across our dear state", he added.


He highlighted his extensive experience as a legal practitioner, arbitrator for over 41 years and executive Chairman Hong LGC, and shared his vision to develop Adamawa state if finally elected the governor.


He briefed them on his integrity and his ability to handle financial resources responsibly as well as ability to provide just treatment to all and sundry, assuring that money will not influence his decisions.


He outlined his plans to develop and improve on the key developmental projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration, and proposed introduction of youth ICT, women empowerment programmes among others.


He assured that his leadership would prioritise peace and commercial development leveraging his experience to the benefit of all citizens, adding that he is running because he knows Adamawa can work better for all citizens. 


Responding, the APC Chairman Adamawa State, Alh. Hamza Bello Madagali, thanked him for finding it worthy to visit the Secretariat, saying he has known Prince Barr. Azura, as a loyal party member.


Alh. Hamza Madagali assured that the party under his watch will create a level playing ground for all the aspirants to contest, reiterating that the party will ensure a credible process in order to produce candidate that will win elections.

The Chief Magistrate Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has remanded the Chairman Concern Citizens Adamawa State, Alh. Husseini Bello Gambo Nakura in prison custody over multiple offences. The Michika Concerned Citizens in Adamawa State have blasted the former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna for his outright disrespect to the Paramount Ruler of Michika Chiefdom, HRM.
