ESTABLISH CAMPUS/STUDY CENTER IN GUYUK LGA ...ADHA DIRECTS MINISTRY, ADSU

Hon. Adwawa Donglock, Guyuk Constituency ADHA Reprieve may come to the teeming students in Guyuk Local Government Area, Adamawa state as the state House of Assembly has directed for the establishment of Campus or Study Centre of the Adamawa State University(ADSU) Mubi, at the headquarters of the LGA. To this end, Honourable Members of the Assembly have unanimously enacted 2 resolutions directing the Management of the State University Mubi to establish the study center in the area. The Legislators have further directed the House Standing Committees on Education and Tertiary Institution to liaise with the Ministry of Higher Education as well as the Committee on Legislative Compliance to ensure the implementation of the resolutions.   Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by the Adamawa State Government to investigate all issues of police brutality, human Rights abuses or related extra judicial killings in the State will commence Sitting  on Tuesday 17 November ,2020. A statement by the Secretary of the Panel, Suleiman Usman, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Tuesday, said that the panel will commence proceedings on 17th November, 2020.  The statement added that panel led by Justice Adamu Hobon (rtd) is inviting memoranda, complaints and petitions on police brutality and torture from affected Members of the public. ADHA MOVES TO ESTABLISH PUBLIC COMPLAINT, ANTI - CORRUPTION COMMISSION

  Lawmakers at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have put a machinery on motion for the establishment of State Public Complaint and Anti Corruption Commission. Already, a bill to that effect has formally been placed on notice at the commencement of public business on Monday, indicating the readiness of the legislators to legislate on such a legislation.  After the appropriate notice, the Chairman Rules and Business of the hallowed chamber will now schedule the bill for first reading at the next convenient legislative day after spelling out the merits of the bill. Floated by the Member representing Shelleng, Hon. Abubakar Isa, and co- sponsored by 24 other Honourable Members of the assembly, the bill if appropriately enacted and assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, will go along way in fighting corruption in the state. ADAMAWA NUJ DISSOCIATES SELF FROM TG NEWS, PUBLISHER

  Determined to combat fake journalism in its fold, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State chapter on Monday dissociated itself from a local online news blog, TG News and its publisher. The union further expressed its displeasure over an unethical conduct of some online news platforms more expecially the TG News considering its recent unbalanced publications. According to the union, the actions of the TG NEWS is unethical and does not follow the code of conduct of the Nigeria Union of Journalists nor the laid down constitution of the profession. The NUJ made its position known in a statement issued on Monday afternoon jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan a Fidelis Jockthan respectively. WE CAN'T TOLERATE MEDIA BLACKMAIL: ADAMAWA ALGON BOSS FIRES BACK

In a swift response to an online publication that Local Government Chairmen fought dirty over money, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Adamawa state chapter has fired back at the report, saying that the association cannot tolerate blackmail against its members. The ALGON Chairman in the state, Hon. Jingi Rufai in a press conference in Yola said: "the publication was an attempt to tarnish the good image of the Chairmen and that such publications cannot be tolerated by the association. We respect the media but not such kind of yellow journalism by unprofessional and half baked practitioners" describing the report as a product of "yellow journalism". Hon. Suleiman Yahaya Sudi, a Member Mubi Consultative Forum, Alhaji Adamu Risku has described the report as a fabrication and falsehood. The Member declared that the report published by an online medium is nothing but a calculated attempt by a desperate publisher to blackmail, rubbish or dent the image and reputation of the Executive Chairman of the LGC and advised general to jettison such unfounded allegations. However, he issued a 24 hour ultimatum to the publisher to retract its report and apologise publicly or face rigors of litigation.
