COUNCILLOR, TRADITIONAL RULER REGAIN FREEDOM AFTER 18 DAYS IN YOLA PRISON

Respite came the way of the Councillor representing Modire Ward in Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa state, Hon. Paul Danladi, and the Ward Head of Fombina, Zira Garba Masi, on Friday, as the Chief Magistrate Court 2 granted them bail after they had spent 18 days in prison custody. The Councillor and the Traditional Ruler were remanded in Yola Correctional Center by the court on Monday, 19th July, 2021, following an application for the revocation of bail by counsel to the complainants, M. A. Adamu (Senior State Counsel 2). Adamu, had applied that the bail granted to the duo be revoked since they deliberated refuse to obey the order of the court by interfering and threatening the lives of some of the complainants/witnesses involved in the matter. ADAMAWA JUSUN CONDOLES CHAIR OVER FATHER's DEATH

Leadership of the Adamawa State Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has condoled the Chairman of the union, Comrade Baba Gurin Abbo, over the death of his father and the District Head of Gurin, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed Yero. Late Alhaji Muhammed Yero was the District Head of Gurin in Fufore Local Government Area in the state, until his demise during the week. Speaking while leading exco of the union on the condolence visit on the Chairman of JUSUN and other family members in Gurin on Thursday, the Legal Adviser of the union, Comrade Aminu Abdulkadir Maiha, extended the condolences of the union and that of the entire staff of judiciary to the Chairman. COURT REMANDS EX-PRESIDENT YAR' ADUA'S SON FOR KILLING 4 IN AUTO CRASH..AS FAMILIES DEMAND N15M COMPENSATION

Chief Magistrate Court Yola town in Adamawa state on Thursday remanded the son of late former President Musa Yar'Adua, in prison custody for killing 4 people in an auto crash in Yola. The son of the erstwhile president, Aminu Musa Yar'Adua, and Student of Abti American University (AUN) Yola, was charged to court for allegedly causing death by dangerous driving on the 23th June, 2021. This is coming as families of the victims are demanding the whooping sum of N15 million as compensation from the 36 year old son of the former president. NEWS PLATFORM recalled that Aminu, had while driving a 4matic mercedes benz jeep along Yola bye pass on that fateful day, lost control due to over speeding as a result of which he knocked down 6 people out of which 4 were reportedly killed, while 2 others sustained injuries. BAUCHI MAN PLACES 2 YR OLD GIRL IN THE HALL, DEFILES HER IN ADAMAWA

Thirty year old man simply identified as Ali Ibrahim, has appeared in court for allegedy defiling a 2 year old girl (names withheld) in Kwacham ward, Mubi North Local Government Area, Adamawa state. Ali who is 30 years old and hailed from Bauchi state, allegedly took the minor, placed her in the hall of his room and had a canal knowledge of the little girl.  The accused person who is standing trial before Justice Helen N. Hammanjoda led High Court on 2 count charges, has been remanded at Yola correctional facility in connection to crime. Ali, a firewood seller who relocated to Adamawa about 20 years ago, confessed that he first saw the baby with her elder brother on the 31st October, 2018, and he later worked out his ways where he took her into his room, placed her in the hall and put his manhood into her private part. MAN TO DIE BY HANGING IN ADAMAWA FOR KILLING WIFE, CHILD WITH AXE

Justice Fatimah Ahmed Tafida of Adamawa State High Court on Monday, sentenced a 40 year old man, Bangos Adamu, to death by hanging for killing his wife and child. Fatimah ordered that Bangos, should be hung by the neck until he dies. She held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Bangos, was guilty of the 2 count charge preffered against him by the prosecution, and convicted him as charge. The convict, who hails from Janjaba village in Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa state, was tried and found guilty for killing his beloved wife, Regina Bangos and her child, Revelation James. NEWS PLATFORM gathered that the convict and a farmer was earlier charged to court for killing his wife by hitting her with an axe on the head and hacking her child with a cutlass which led to their untimely death. YOLA COURT CONVICTS PDP YOUTH LEADER TO 2 YRS IN PRISON FOR INSULTING BUHARI, BOSS MUSTAPHA

Chief Magistrate Court 4 sitting in Yola, Adamawa state on Monday, sentenced Youth Leader of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) Hong Local Government Area, Ikamu Hamidu Kato, to two (2) years in prison for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and Secretary to the Government of the Federation(SGF), Boss Gida Mustapha. Chief Magistrate Dimas Elishama, convicted the Youth Leader to one year in prison for the use of insulting or abusive words with N25, 000 option of fine. Likewise, the court has convicted and sentenced the defendant to one year in prison with N25, 000 option of fine for inciting public disturbance, and held that the sentences are to run concurrently. The presiding judge said that the court had considered the plea of the convict to temper justice with mercy, his conduct during the trial, his apology, and that he will not be left to go scot free, but be punished to serve as deterrent to others and sentenced him accordingly.
