ADSU OFFERS AUTOMATIC EMPLOYMENT TO BEST GRADUATING STUDENT

The best graduating student of the Adamawa State University(ADSU) Mubi, Elija Hope Tumba, has been offered automatic employment. The 24 year old girl, Hope Tumba, hails from Michika Local Government Area and holds B. Sc Economics, First Class from the state university in 2019. After her graduation, she went to an Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria(ICAN), in November, 2021, and came out as the best graduant and currently pursuing M. Sc at the Nigerian Defence Academy. Hope also became best graduating student  Michika/Madagali constituency from 2009/2010 to 2018/2020 academic sessions and also bagged Federal Government Scholarship Board award 2016-2017. 2 ADAMAWA HUNTERS, 3 OTHERS SENTENCED 14 YRS EACH FOR RECEIVING 20 STOLEN HANDSETS

Newly created Upper Area Court 4 sitting in Yola, Adamawa has convicted and sentenced 2 Local Hunters and 3 others to 14 years imprisonment for the offence of receiving stolen property. The convicts, Sani Umar(aka Wizkid), Abdulhadi Hayatu(Daba), Abubakar Idris(aka Kwaro), Mujahid Muhammad Mujahid and Adamu Usman(aka Mai Mata) were convicted with an option of N100, 000 each. Sani and Abdulhadi, who hail from Wauru Jabbe in Yola South Local Government Area and said to be Local Hunters by occupation, bought 11 stolen handsets while knowing fully well that the items were stolen.  While Abubakar, an electrician and bricklayer, Mujahid, a capenter and Adamu, a wielder are residents of Wauru Jabbe and Yelwa in Jambutu, Yola North LGA. APPEAL COURT AFFIRMS DEATH SENTENCE ON 3 FOR KILLING ADAMAWA PASTOR

The Court of Appeal, Yola Division, on Monday, affirmed the death sentence imposed on three (3) young men for killing a pastor. Hon. Justice Chidi Nwaoma Uwa, of the appeal court affirmed the lower court's verdict and dismissed the appeal seeking to upturn the judgement of the lower court.   Former High court judge, Hon. Justice Abdul-Azeez Waziri, who is now an Appeal Court Judge, convicted and sentenced the young men to death by hanging for killing pastor Hammanjulde Dadon, over royalty. Those slammed with death sentence include; Godwin Obidah, 25, Thomas Bitrus,27, and Hananiya Ezra, 30, of Tashan Rake village in Yola South Local Government Area. The convicts, Godwin, an okada rider and father of 3, Thomas, a farmer and Hanani, a labourer were arraigned before the court where they pleaded not guilty to the 2 count charge. ADAMAWA STAKEHOLDERS URGE FG, NASS TO FUND, REVIEW LEGAL AID COUNCIL'S ACT

Adamawa State stakeholders have urged the Federal Government to improve its funding of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, saying adequate funding of the council is a key to attaining success and greatness. The stakeholders have also appealed to the National Assembly to review the act establishing the council so as to convert it to a full fledge commission. Currently, the council is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Justice and has been encountering huge challeges including poor funding, lack of manpower and operational vehicles to aid in movement of staff among others. Equally, the stakeholders have hammered on the need to expunge a schedule in order to enlarge the powers of the council to fully represent or cover both criminal and civil cases. A suspected kidnapper has confessed in Yola, Adamawa state that he had used proceeds realised from kidnapping to chase women and drink beer with friends at leisure time. He said he was once given N1.5million out of N6million they had collected as ransom from the family of a man they had abducted. He narrated that he expended N1million on beer, women and transfered the sum of N500, 000 to their spiritualist who used to offer prayers to enable them succeed during operations. FORMER APC OFFICIALS ENDORSE NAMDAS' GUBER AMBITION

Former officials of the All Progressives in Adamawa state have unanimously endorsed the candidature of Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas to fly the party's ticket in the 2023 elections. The former leaders made the decision during a meeting held at the Fombina Ambassadors Royal Resort in Yola on Saturday. The group consists of former elected executives of the party from the 21 local governments and at the state level.
