HEBA, KILBA LANGUAGE WILL SOON BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS-NERDC

Teaching and learning in Heba (Kilba) language will soon commence in schools in Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa state. The National Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), Abuja, stated this on Monday, at the opening ceremony of "Critique and Editorial" for the development of Heba language curriculum held in Yola, Adamawa State. The Acting Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr Margret Lawani, assured that the language will soon be taught as subject in schools, and pledged the council's support to Heba community to that effect. Senate C'ttee Lauds ICPC as Commission's Chair Presents Scorecards

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, presented the Commission's performance scorecard over the past year to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes. Dr. Aliyu who presented commission's scorecards during an oversight visit by the Senate Committee on Monday, highlighted the Commission's achievements in strengthening its capabilities in the fight against corruption. He added that the commission also performed well in advancing policy research, despite limited budgetary resources and reliance on international donor support. ICPC Arraigns Ex-Federal Lawmaker over N18.9million Money Laundering

     The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a former Member House of Representatives for Gboko and Tarka Federal Constituency, Hon. John Dyegh, before Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State for allegedly laundering N18.970million. Hon. John Dyegh, was arraigned on 5-count charge of abuse of office and money laundering before Hon. Justice M. Shitu Abubakar at the Federal High Court 1 sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, under case number FHC/MKD/CR/184/2024. The charges detailed alleged corrupt practices, including Dyegh's receipt of N18,970,000 (Eighteen Million Nine Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira) on May 19, 2014, intended for the construction of school facilities in Guma LGA, Benue State.  He was accused of allegedly channeling the funds through the First Bank account of Midag Limited, a company in which Dyegh has a substantial interest. ICPC Chair Emerges AARP-F President, Seeks End to Illicit Financial Flow in Africa

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu SAN, has been elected President African Asset Recovery Practitioners’ Forum (AARP-F).  Dr. Musa Aliyu, was elected President of AARP-F by the interim council members of the forum which comprise representatives from African regional blocs, ARINs, and AAACA, in an election held in Arusha, Tanzania, recently. Speaking shortly after his election, Dr. Musa Aliyu, canvassed renewed implementation of Common African Position on Asset Recovery (CAPAR) to eliminate illicit financial flow in Africa. He stressed the need for members of the AARP Forum to uphold their charter's objectives and advance efforts in asset tracking and repatriation to bring Africa’s development goals within reach. MAIZE THIEF STABS WOMAN TO DEATH IN ADAMAWA

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 20 years old suspected thief, Abubakar Abudu for stabbing 30 years old house wife to death.   A statement by the image maker of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Monday, explained that the accused was arrested on the 10th November, 2024. He said that the suspect who hails from Gengle village in Mayo Belwa LGA, stabbed his victim identified as Azumi Abubakar, to death. He said, "The suspect had on 7th November, 2024 at about 0300hrs broke into the house of the victim and stole some quantity of maize. In an attempt to escape, the victim identified and called his name.  "Upon realizing that he was sighted and identified, he immediately attacked the victim by stabbing her with a knife as a result of which she died," SP Nguroje added. He said that arrest followed a complaint from the victim's husband, assuring that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.

SEN IYA ABBAS INSTALLS SOLAR STREETLIGHTS IN COMMUNITIES

The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas has commenced the installation of solar streetlights in some communities in his constituency.  Iya Abbas who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, said the gesture is part of his commitment towards complementing government's effort in improving security.
