ADHA Education C'ttee Vows to Sanction Absentee Teachers

The Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education on Wednesday, vowed to sanction teachers who delight in absenting themselves from classrooms without due authorisation. News Platform  There have been recurring allegations of teachers who absent themselves from duty especially in some government owned primary and secondary schools across the state. This set of teachers, mainly in rural schools, not only short-change the pupils and students, who they are supposed to teach, but also defraud the government by collecting salaries and not working to justify the paymenent. ICPC Chair Calls for United Action Against Procurement Fraud

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has urged stakeholders from all sectors to collaborate in fostering accountability and combating procurement fraud in Nigeria. Speaking at the Close-out and Journalism Award Ceremony of the International Centre for Investigative Journalism (ICIR) Open Contract Reporting Project (OCRP) in Abuja, Dr. Aliyu underscored the pivotal role of procurement in public service delivery.  This is contained in a release signed by the Director, Public Enlightenment and Education/Spokesperson for the Commission, Demola Bakare. Adamawa Police Ask Citizens to Claim Abandoned, Stolen Vehicles

The Adamawa State Police Command has urged citizens to visit the Central Motor Traffic Division to claim abandoned, accident, missing or stolen vehicles. The command's spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, in a statement, asked the public to visit the CMTD with original proof of ownership and claim their vehicles. The vehicles include Nissan Hilux, Honda Accord, Honda EOD, Toyota Starlet amongst others. He explained that the abandoned or accident vehicles were recovered during investigations of fatal accident cases at Command's Central Motor Traffic Division (CMTD) from October 2022. "The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, calls on members of the public whose motor vehicles were either stolen, missing or abandoned to report to Central Motor Traffic Division with original proof of ownership and claim it". He stated.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured the conviction of Mr. Solomon Ogodo, a Superintendent of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for his involvement in forgery, employment racketeering and fraud. The ICPC, had in December 2022 arraigned Mr. Ogodo in charge no: CR/503/2022 before Hon. Justice M.S. Idris of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court Jabi, Abuja for defrauding unsuspecting job seekers to the tune of Twelve Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N12,200,000). Breaking: ADHA Passes Bill for the Appointment, Deposition of Chiefs

Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday, passed a bill for a law to provide for the appointment and deposition of Chiefs in Adamawa State. News Platform  The passage of the bill followed a motion to that effect by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel (Maiha) and seconded by Hon. Kantomon Naftali Bulus, representing Shelleng constituency. The lawmakers passed the bill after considering and adopting the report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs headed by Hon. Calvin Kefas (Toungo).  The bill was initiated to provide for the appointment and deposition of chiefs and matters incidental thereto.
