Two Habitual "Shila" Boys Jailed 3 Yrs Each Without Option of Fine

The Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Yola, Adamawa State on Thursday, convicted and sentenced 2 habitual "Shila" boys to 3 years imprisonment each without option of fine. The convicts include Auwal Garba, 20 years old of Rumde ward and Hamza Ibrahim, 20 years old of Nepa ward respectively in Jimeta, Yola North LGA. The court presided by Magistrate A. M. Adamu, sentenced the convicts after they were tried and found guilty of "criminal conspiracy, public nuisance, extortion and voluntary causing of hurt". According to the prosecution, their offences contravened sections 60, 153, 282 and 219 of the Adamawa state penal code law. On their arraignment, the convicts pleaded guilty after the content of the First Information Report earlier tendered by the prosecutor, Sgt Ahmed Abubakar was read to them. DEFENSE: Court Adjourns Trial of Ex Gov Nyako's CSO to May 20th

Adamawa State High Court presided by the Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, has adjourned a case against ACP Sherrif Abubakar Rabiu, Chief Security Officer (CSO) to erstwhile Governor Murtala Nyako for continuation of defense. Justice Hafsat on Thursday, adjourned the matter to the 20th May, 2025 for continuation of defense shortly after cross examination of the Defense Witness (DW1) who is the defendant himself. The former CSO has been standing trial since 2021 for allegedly converting 2 landed properties worth N80 million which he had purchased in the name of Sebore farms to himself and sold same properties at a later date. On his appearance in court today, Sheriff was cross examined on his testimony before the court as well as exhibits tendered and admitted in evidence and marked as exhibits PW1A, PW1B, and PW 1B1. ICPC Arraigns REA Director, 1 other for N15Million Contract Fraud

  The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other  Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Mr. Netufo Olaniyi Alaba, the suspended Executive Director oRelatedf the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and Mr. Hassan Arivi Saddiq, Managing Director, Hassino Group Limited, for their alleged involvement in a N15million contract fraud. Mr. Alaba who is the first defendant and Mr. Saddiq the second defendant, appeared on Wednesday before Justice Celestine Obinna of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Maitama Abuja, on a four and three-count charge respectively, bordering on currying favor and conferring unfair advantage through office, amongst other corruption charges. It would be recalled that the Presidency had last year approved the indefinite suspension of certain senior figures at REA including Mr. Alaba, over a N1.2 billion fraud. NIS Officer Arraigned for Receiving N17.6Million Salaries from 3 Govt Agencies

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned, Abubakar Mohammed Aseku, an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), for allegedly drawing salaries from two additional government agencies while still employed by the NIS. Mr. Aseku appeared on Tuesday before Justice Binta Dogonyaro of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a nine-count charge bordering on abuse of office and corruption. According to the ICPC, the defendant allegedly received N4.2 million in salaries from the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in 2015 while working as a school teacher, despite being on active duty with the NIS.  He is further accused of drawing N13.4 million in salaries from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) between 2018 and 2019, while employed by the Immigration Service. Adamawa Police Nab 18-Yr Old for Defiling Minor

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested an 18 years Aliyu Yakubu for allegedly defiling a minor. The command in a release by the spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspect was arrested on the 12th March, 2025  "The arrest followed a complaint received from Barnabas Elisha, father of the victim. According to him, the 9 years old victim had since been taken to Hospital for medical attention. 

Women's Day: ADHA Female Lawmaker Salutes Women, Girls

The Majority Leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, has saluted women folk in the state as they mark 2025 International Women's Day. Hon. Kate Mamuno who is the only female lawmaker and represents Demsa constituency, congratulated women for celebrating yet another International Women's Day. The legislator felicitated with the women while presenting matter of personal interest at the resumed plenary session of the assembly presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley during the week.
