ADAMAWA LEGISLATORS ASK FINTIRI TO AXE NUMAN LGC BOSS

The Transition Committee Chairman of Numan Local Government Council in Adamawa State, Nathaniel Tyakul, has incurred the wrath of the State House of Assembly following recommendations by the House for his immediate suspension. The Lawmakers further asked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to suspend the Chairman for 2 weeks to enable the House Standing Committees on Public Petitions, Public Accounts and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the allegations levelled against him by the legislative council. The decision of the Lawmakers followed the presentation of complaint letter filed against the Chairman by 10 Legislative Councillors of the Local Government Council. ADHA APPROVES THE APPOINTMENT OF 40 SPECIAL ADVISERS TO FINTIRI

Adamawa State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of 40 Special Advisers that will assist Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in piloting the affairs of the state. The approval was sequel to the consideration of a letter to that effect forwarded to the House of Assembly by Governor Fintiri, and read at the resumed plenary session today by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas. Governor Fintiri had requested the Honourable Members to grant the approval as his request is in line with 1999 Constitution as amended. Earlier, while moving a motion for the consideration of the letter, the Majority Leader of the House and Member representing Jada Mbulo, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri, appealed to colleagues to grant the approval so as to assist the Governor in running the affairs of the state. After the approval, the Speaker of the House, Rt. ADHA C'TTEE ON HEALTH TO CONVENE STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON 2 BILLS TODAY

As part of effort towards enacting people oriented legislations, the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Health and Human Services is convening stakeholders meeting on 2 bills later today. According to the Chairman of the Committee and member representing Yola North constituency, Hon. Hamidu Sajoh Lekki, the meeting is aimed at bringing critical stakeholders in health sector in the state with a view to deliberating on the bills before their passage. The bills for consideration by the stakeholders include: " Bill for a Law to amend Adamawa State Health Insurance Scheme Law No. 7 of 2011, to Provide for Free Health Care Services to Disabled and Unemployed " and a " Bill for a Law Regulate the Minimum Standard for Health Care Facilities and for related matters ". SPEAKER ADHA DIRECTS AD HOC C'TTEES ON ASSESSMENT TO SUBMIT REPORTS

Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, has directed Ad Hoc Committees on the Assessment of Local Government Transition Committees' performance to submit their reports for the Assembly' s consideration. The Speaker who gave the directives while presiding over yesterday's plenary session, asked the Committees to forward their reports to the House Standing Committee on LG Affairs for upward submission to the committee of whole. He further commended the Committees for their efforts in carrying out their assignment, and urged them to sustain the spirit of team work for the progress of the assembly and the state in general. The Ad Hoc Committees had last week undertaken an on the spot assessment of projects executed by the Transition Committee Chairmen during their first 100 days in office. WOMEN CAN PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NUT CHAIR, PRAYS FOR HIS SUCCESS

 Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Adamawa State Chapter, has pledged its unflinching support to the Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) so as to succeed in championing the course of both teachers and students in the state. The association however applauded the Chairman of the union, Comrade Rodney Nathan, for his recent intervention on issues affecting teachers as well as massive awareness programmes he initiated on radio with a view to keeping teachers abreast of their official responsibilities. COURT TO DECIDE FATE OF MAN WHO KILLS RANDY LOVER OF GRAND MOTHER NEXT MONTH

Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola, the State capital has fixed 11th November, 2019, for judgement on the case between the state government and middle aged man, Abraham Donald from Labondo, a village in Girei Local Government. The accused was said to have caused the death of Aladun Jack, by hitting him with cutlass on his stomach when he( Donald) met Aladun having sexual intercourse with his grand mother in the village on 17th January, 2011. The offence is culpable homicide not punishable with death contrary to section 222 sub section 1, of the Penal Code Law cap 98, Laws of Adamawa State 1997, and punishable under section 224, thereof. Though, the suspect was earlier on standing trial at 2 different Courts of Law as from 2014, was later arraigned before Honourable Justice Abdul- Aziz Waziri's  Court on 16th January, 2018, making it 3 different court in about 5 years.
