Legislators at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have approved the whooping #140.072 billion proposed revised budget for the services of the state in the year 2020.
The House of Assembly had in December last year approved over #183.360 billion for both recurrent and capital expenditure for the year 2020, but owing to economic crunch as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the state decided to review the budget to be in line with current reality.
In his request to the House of Assembly earlier, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had asked the Lawmakers to cut the budget from #183.360 billion #140.072 billion to enhance budget in order to achieve a genuine and realistic budget performance.
But the hallowed chamber at its resumed plenary session today, went ahead and approved the request; thereby reducing the budget to #140.072 as against #183.360 presented by the Governor and subsequently okayed by the Honourable Members last year.
The passage of the proposed revised budget estimate followed the presentation, consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation headed by Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa) at a plenary presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas today.
