FINTIRI EASES CURFEW ON GUYUK COMMUNITIES, VOWS TO RESTORE PEACE


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State  has on Monday relaxed curfew imposed on some communities in Guyuk Local Government Area following recent disturbances in the communities.

According to Fintiri, the relaxation of the curfew excludes Boshikiri and Dumna towns in Guyuk and Lafiya town in Lamurde Local Government Areas respectively.

A statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM today, assured that Government is not leaving anything to chance until peace is restored in the affected communities.

He warned that anybody caught flouting the curfew in the 3 communities including Lafiya, Dumna and Boshikiri will have himself to blame as security agencies have been directed to ensure strict observance of the curfew.

He said people must learn to be their brothers keeper especially at this difficult period where the world has been forced to observe COVID-19 protocols and its attendant economic consequences.

He further cautioned those sponsoring violence to desist forthwith in order for peace to reign, saying that "our hard earned peace must be sustained as it's our social contract with the people”.

He appealed to citizens to maintain peace, and reiterated his administration's resolved to the protecting lives and property of the people in the state..

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri advised residents to exercise restraint and remain calm as the committee sets up to investigate the crisis is delivering on its mandate, assuring that Government is doing everything possible to maintain peace in the state.
