ADHA ADOPTS 3 RESOLUTIONS ON LAMURDE-THINGNO COLLAPSED BRIDGE


Lawmakers at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have passed about 3 resolutions calling on the Federal and State Governments to embark on the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge connecting Lamurde Local Government Area, Thingno and some parts of Taraba state.

The Legislators further appealed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to urgently assist and create temporary bridge that will ease the movement of the inhabitants of the affected communities pending time the reconstruction of the bridge will be completed.

Likewise, the Honourable Members have directed the House Committee on Works, Land and Survey to liaise with the National Assembly Members representing the zone as well as Federal Road Maintenance Agency(FERMA) to take immediate action on the bridge being the Federal Road so as to ameliorate the suffering of the affected communities.

The adoption of the resolutions followed a matter of public interest brought before the Honourable House by the Member representing Lamurde constituency, Hon. Myandassa Bauna at Monday resumed plenary session.

Earlier, Hon. Bauna briefed his colleagues on the plight of his electorate as a result of the collapsed of  Lamurde -Thingno bridge constructed about 30 years ago.

Aside the collapsed bridge, according to the Lawmaker, the flood disaster also wrecked havoc on other minor bridges, farmlands, food items and other valuables, houses including that of the Supervisory Councillor Agriculture Lamurde LGC.

He told the hallowed chamber that the early morning rain was responsible for the flooding which cuts off the bridge linking the headquarters of Lamurde LGA and Thingno, Suwa, Kwa and Karim Lamido LGA in Taraba state. 

The PDP Legislator said that the situation calls for immediate intervention by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration and President Muhammad Buhari so as to end the suffering of his constituents.


The Lawmaker disclosed that the collapse of the bridge has affected the movement of his people, adding that the road leads to Thingno where the government generates more than #1million revenue on market days.

He prayed his colleagues to impress on the State and Federal Governments to intervene to address the kind of hardship his electorate encounter, and at the same time enhance the revenue of the LGC and state at large.

Also speaking on the motion, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo(Numan), Hon. Abubakar Isa(Shelleng) sympathised with those affected, and said that road entirely was constructed over 30 years ago, and stressed the need for the reconstruction of the road.

On her part, Hon. Kate Mamuno (Demsa) called on the government to intervene so as to ease the movement of goods and services considering the importance of the road to agriculture and economic sectors of the LGC and the state.

After the contributions from the members, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the clerk to communicate the resolutions of the House to the authorities concern.
