BILLS TO ESTABLISH TEACHERS SERVICE COMM, OTHER SCALED THROUGH 1ST READING AT ADHA


A bill for a law to establish Adamawa State Teachers Service Commission in order to recruit, promote and regulate the welfare of teachers in the state has successfully scaled through first reading at the State House of Assembly.

Also, a bill for a law to prohibit open defecation, urination, promote hygiene in the state has been read for the first time at the House of Assembly. 

The bills floated by the Member representing Michika constituency, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada have been read by the Honourable Members, and since referred to the Committee on Rules and Business to slate it for second reading at the next legislative day.

According to the sponsor, Hon. Kwada the bill seeking for the establishment of teachers commission is aimed at putting in place a commission that will be responsible for the recruitment, promotion and general welfare of Adamawa Teachers.

While on the second bill, the intention of the sponsor is to eliminate open defection and urination and encourage people to embrace the use of sanitary toilets, so as to keep the society clean from dirt and waste that cause various diseases such as diarrhea and intestinal worm infections, typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, polio, trachoma, and several others.

After the 1st reading of both bills, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the Tuesday plenary session, directed the Chairman Rules and Business to slate the bills for second reading at the next legislative day.
