The suspect and resident of Mbulawa ward in Numan Local government Area was arrested by the detectives attached to Numan Division for defiling the baby.
The Command in a statement by its Spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje and made available to NEWS PLATFORM Sunday, said that the suspect who happens to be the neighbour of the baby, took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her on the 23rd July, 2020.
Upon noticing an abnormal behaviour of the baby, according to the Command, the mother started monitoring her closely, and lo and behold a sperm in her private part, thereby raising alarm which led to the arrest of the suspect.
According the Spokesman, the victim is now receiving medical attention at a health facility, saying that the suspect is under the custody of the Command and being investigated.
It is due to rampant cases of rape and defilement that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju, advised parents and guardians to watch the movement of their wards.
CP Adeyanju commended the public especially those that are supporting fight against Sexual Violence Against Women and Children, calling on parents and guardians educate/sensitise their children to keep distance from people of such character.
The CP reassured of the commitment of the Command to protecting lives and property of the citizens, and appealed to general public to continue in reporting any suspicious movement around them .
