ADAMAWA NLC REJECTS SLASH IN WORKERS' SALARIES, DEMANDS REFUND

Leadership of organised Labour in Adamawa State has vehemently rejected deductions in July, 2020 salaries of workers, demanding immediate refund of the workers' salaries. 

The organised Labour however called on the State Government to direct the Accountant General's Office to reverse the deductions made in workers' salaries as done in the months of May and June, 2020 with minimum delay.

A bulletin issued after an emergency meeting of Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) State chapter in Yola, asked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to direct Accountant General to reverse the cut, as well as direct the immediate implementation of New National Minimum wage to workers at the Local Governments level.

It stated that the LG workers are part and parcel of the negotiation process and the signed agreement, hence they must enjoy the minimum wage.

Furthermore, it called on the Government to make public, the Tax Regime meted on salaries of workers of in the State, and demanded the reversal of double taxation made on workers' salaries in the month of June, 2020.

It lamented that the deductions were carried out without due consultation with the leadership of NLC in the state, and called on workers to remain calm, resolute and peaceful while awaiting Governmet's response.

Reacting on accusations of lack of taking  immediate action on the slash, the Chairman of the NLC in the State, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, said that NLC was not consulted before such action.

Comrade Fashe reiterated his commitment towards ensuring the welfare of workers in the state, and vowed not to relent in struggling for it.
