ADAMAWA MPs SEEK GOVT INTERVENTION ON YEBBI-GANYE COLLAPSED BRIDGE


Lawmakers at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have passed 4 resolutions directing Ministry of Works and Energy Development in the state to take immediate action on the collapsed Yebbi-Ganye bridge.

The State Legislators have further mandated the ministry to visit the entire state so as to ascertain the number of bridges destroyed by flood disaster, and take action by fixing the bridges with a view to ameliorating hardship faced by the communities affected by the collapsed.

The action of the legislators followed a debate on the matter of public importance presented before the hallowed chamber by the member representing Ganye constituency, Hon. Alhassan Hammajoda at Tuesday resumed plenary session.

Hon. Alhassan informed his colleagues that the bridge cut off as a result of recent heavy rainfall which wrecked havoc on the road as well as the bridge, and prayed them to support him and pass a resolution that will salvage the situation of his constituents.

The APC legislator said that the motion became absolutely necessary taking into consideration the economic and agricultural significance of the road, saying that the bridge in particular is connecting the headquarters of the LGA with several communities.

More so, he added that the collapsed bridge is also linking Ganye and other major communities in the area and parts of Jada Mbulo constituency in Jada Local Government Council, explaining that the collapse of the bridge has affected the movement of his people in and around the area.

Baring their minds on the matter, the Members representing Shelleng, Verre,  Gombi and Nasarawo Binyeri constituencies, Hon. Abubakar Isa, Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak, Hon. Japheth Kefas and Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi sympathised with people of the area, and commended Hon. Alhassan for bringing the matter before the Assembly.

Thereafter, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, directed the clerk to communicate the resolutions of the House to the authorities concern for further action.
