ADAMAWA POLY TO START 11 DEGREE PROGRAMMES NEXT SESSION

Rector Adamawa State Polytechnic (SPY), Yola, Professor Ibrahim Umar, has said that the polytechnic will start awarding Degree Programmes in 11 different courses during next academic session. According to the Rector, the degree programmes which will be affiliated with the University of Maiduguri (uniMAID), will be in Social and Management Sciences respectively. He said that the degree programmes will be in the fields of Mass Communication, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Sociology, Economics, Computer Science, English Language, and Public Administration. The Rector of the institution started this while receiving the House Standing Committee Education led by its Chairman and member representing Hong constituency, Hon. ADHA C'TTEE PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR THE REVITILISATION OF EDUCATION SECTOR

Apparently worried by the fallen standard of education in the state, the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education has offered to support the revitilisation of education sector through legislation on issues that affect the sector in the state. The committee said that it is ready to complement the effort of the present administration in improving the standard of education in the state through effective oversight function and legislation on the sector, saying no society will develop without prioritising the education. HON. BATHIYA'S EDUCATION COMMITTEE VISITS MDAS FOR FAMILIARISATION

Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education headed by Hon. Bathiya Wesley (Hong constituency) has undertaken a familiarisation visit on Ministries, Departments and Agencies. So far, the Committee has been able to visit Ministries of Education and its counterpart of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Post Primary Schools Management Board(PPSMB), Mass Education Board, and expected to visit other agencies. Speaking while leading other members of Committee which include Hon. Simon Isa( Song), Vice Chairman, Hon. Shuaibu Babas( Fufore Gurin), Hon. Umar Nashion Gubi( Nassarawo Binyeri) and Hon. ADAMAWA LGCS WORKERS VOW TO HOLD THEIR CHAIRMEN ACCOUNTABLE

Following the financial autonomy given to Local Government Councils by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state, workers across the Local Government Councils in the state  have vowed to hold  their chairmen accountable on how their resources are utilised. The workers said that their councils have been given financial autonomy by the Governor so as to be in control of their finances, and said that they will make their chairmen accountable on what goes in and out at their various local government councils. Some of the workers in Michika, Numan, Toungo, Mayo Belwa and Hong Local Government Areas respectively who spoke to the NEWS PLATFORM, insisted that they will not allow their bosses to go scot free without subjecting them to transparency and accountability. FINTIRI COMMENDS AIR FORCE FOR CURTAILING INSECURITY

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has commended the efforts of the Air Force Personnel in making sure that relative peace is enjoyed in Adamawa and the North East in general. Governor Fintiri made the commendation at the Air Force Base Yola at a special launch as part of sallah celebration organized for air men and women in recognition their contributions in securing the country. He vowed that as the Chief Security Officer of the state, he will leave no stone unturned in complementing the efforts of the Air Force personnel to reduce criminal activities in the state. He pledged his administration's plan to extend its developmental programmes to Barracks/Base in the state, especially in the areas of education and infrastructure among others. Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, on a sallah homage at the Presidential Lodge Government House Yola, today.
