MADAGALI COMMUNITY DEMANDS REVERSAL OF SUKUR TO MIDLU DISTRICT

Midlu Community under Sukur District in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State has sought the House of Assembly's approval towards reversing the name of Sukur District to its original name of Midlu District. The people of community who stormed the premises of House of Assembly with various inscriptions Thursday, demanded the intervention of the House of Assembly so as to maintain status quo. Presently, Sukur District in Madagali LGA comprises of Midlu Shalmi, Midlu Vapura, Midlu Chakawa Wulla and Sukur itself. Speaking while presenting their case for consideration by the House, the Chairman Midlu Development Association, Mr. John Thliza, said that they collectively worked for the creation of the district which was subsequently gazetted in 1983. Communities in Sukur District, Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State have sought the House of Assembly's approval to reverse the name of Sukur District to Midlu District. The communities which comprise Midlu Shalmi, Midlu Vapura, Midlu Chakawa and Wulla in Sukur District stormed the premises of the House holding placards with various inscriptions and demanded the intervention of the House of Assembly on the matter. Speaking while presenting their case for consideration by the House, the Chairman Midlu Development Association, Mr. John Thliza, said that they collectively worked for the creation of the district which was subsequently gazetted in 1983. ADAMAWA ASSEMBLY/MINISTRY HOLDS INDUCTION WORKSHOP FOR LGC's LEGISLATORS

As part of effort towards building the capacity of Local Government Legislators for effective performance, the Adamawa State House of Assembly in conjunction with the Ministry for Local Affairs has organised a 3 day induction workshop for elected councillors, clerks and sergeant at arms of the 21 LGCs. The induction workshop which is currently taking place at Lelewal Motels in the Yola, the Adamawa State Capital has attracted the targeted participants and the leadership and staff of the state Assembly. Declaring the workshop open Wednesday, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, said that the House of Assembly and the Ministry decided to organised the induction workshop so as to build the capacity of the participants to effectively carry out their constitutional duties. ADHA CONFIRMS MUSA GAUDE AS NEW CLERK TO THE HOUSE

Members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly have confirmed the appointment of Musa Ahmad Gaude as the substantive clerk to the House of Assembly. The appointment and subsequent confirmation of Musa Gaude followed the retirement of former Clerk to the House, Mr. Francis Gbansenso from the service in November, 2019. His appointment was contained in a letter dated 30th January, 2020, by the House of Assembly Service Commission and signed by its Chairman, Abdullahi Abubakar. Until his appointment, Musa Gaude was the Permanent Secretary Political at the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Eng. Bashir Ahmed and also served as Deputy Clerk from 2012  to 2013 and Acting Clerk from 2011 to 2012 to the House. JUST IN: POLICE ARREST 5 NOTORIOUS CULTISTS IN ADSU MUBI, RECOVER ARMS

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested about 5 suspected notorious cultists terrorising students of the State University Mubi. According to the command, the suspected cultists specialised in cultism, initiating innocent students, attacking and inflicting various degrees of injuries on innocent students. The suspects include; Okene Ebuka Louis, 26, and John Alana, 25, belong to Neo Black Group while Usah Bitrus, 21, Nehemiah Mathew, 25, and Beneath Mathew, 22 belong to Black Arrows Group . Likewise, the command recovered dangerous weapons including 2 pistols, Cutlasses, Knives, Rings and Charms from the criminals. ADHA ADOPTS 4 RESOLUTIONS ON THE WELLBEING OF RETURNEES FROM LAGOS

Aminu Iya Abbas, Speaker ADHA Worried by the plight of indigenes returning from Lagos following a ban on the use of tricycles/ motorcycles, the Legislators at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have unanimously adopted about 4 resolutions on the wellbeing of the affected. Part of the resolutions adopted at today's resumed plenary session presided by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas include; the need for the state government to liaise with Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers to conduct census of the returnees to ascertain whether all of them are indigenes of the state or not.
