BOKO HARAM KILL 18, INJURE 4 IN ADAMAWA COMMUNITY

  Unidentified gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram have killed not less than 18 people while injuring 4 others in Dabna community in Garaha ward, Hong Local Government Area in Adamawa state. The hoodlums had during the attack in the early hours of Wednesday, burnt LCCN Church, Awareness Church, 4 shops and a household.  The Executive Chairman of the LGC, Hon. James Pukuma, who confirmed the attack to NEWS PLATFORM, stated that 18 people were killed while 4 others sustained various degrees of injuries. He added that the assailants stormed the community around 10 minutes to 6:00am on Wednesday and started killing people. Hon. Pukuma, described the attack as unfortunate, and appealed to both State and Federal Governments to consider deploying military permanently to the affected area because of its closeness to Sambisa forest.

COLLEGE FOR LEGAL STUDIES' STUDENT OF CRIMINOLOGY, 3 OTHERS ARRAIGNED FOR DEFILING 14 YR OLD BOY

Shamsudeen Mohammed, of the Department of Criminology and Security of the College for Legal Studies Yola, in Adamawa State and 3 others have been remanded for allegedly defiling a 14 year old boy (names withheld) The accused, Shamsudeen Mohammed, 25, Aliyu Yakubu, 23, Husseini Ja'afar, 19 and Abba Kano(now at large) of Jimeta in Yola North Local Government Area, have been kept behind bars pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution. Shamsudeen and 2 others who were arrested and arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court Yola town today, were alleged to have inserted their sex organs into the anus of the JSS 3 Student of Demsawo Secondary School and forcefully had canal knowledge of him on the 1st July, 2021. They were charged to court for alleged criminal conspiracy and un-natural offence contrary to sections 60 and 263 Penal Code Law of the State 2018. ADHA CONSTITUTES 7 MAN C'TEE TO INVESTIGATE BPP, FRC, PLANNING COMMISSION

  Adamawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday constituted 7 Man Ad Hoc Committee to investigate the activities of 3 parastatals since 2020 to date. The parastatals to be investigated include; Bureau for Public Procurement(BPP), Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) and State Planning Commission. The Committee comprises of Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo(Numan) Deputy Speaker as Chairman, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada(Michika), Hon. Muhammed Mutawali(Girei), Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak(Verre), Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk), Hon. Kate Raymond Masmuno(Demsa) and Hon. Abubakar Isa (Shelleng). The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, announced the constitution of the Committee while presiding over resumed plenary session, and however given 2 weeks within which to submit its report.

DRAMA AS COURT CONVICTS MAN TO 9 YRS IN PRISON FOR DESERTING A PREGNANT WOMAN IN ADAMAWA

A mild drama took place at Chief Magistrate Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa State on Friday, when the court convicted and sentenced a 31 year old man, Zakaria Mallam, to 9 years inprisonment without of option of fine.  The court sentenced the young man for 2 years inprisonment for deserting (abandoning) the pregnant woman, and 7 years for attempting to escape after he was convicted, and further held that the sentences are to run concurrently. The Convict, Zakaria of Pariya village in Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa state was earlier charged to court for deserting one Maryam Lami Usman of Unguwan Yungur whom he put in a family way.   Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, Adamawa state has admitted corroborative evidence against a Female POS Operator Esther Felix, who swindled the sum of N659, 000, of her Boss, Edet Okposong. Esther Felix of Bayero Hungushi street in Jimeta Yola is currently standing trial over alleged criminal breach of trust where she admitted swindling the said amount which belongs to her Boss and has since used over N450, 000 and bought clothes. Upon her arraignment in court last week, the middle age girl told the court that she converted the money to her personal use where she used over N450, 000 and bought clothes, saying that she actually committed the offence. After entering her plea, the court presided by Magistrate Japhet Ibrahim Basani, remanded the girl at Yola correctional centre and adjourned the case to the 30th July, 2021, to enable the prosection call a witness and tender evidence to corroborate the plea of the defendant.
